Williamsport police seek culprit of Sunday carjacking

Williamsport Bureau of Police are investigating a carjacking and robbery of a black 2009 Toyota Camry occurring Sunday afternoon just before 3 p.m. in a parking lot in the 200 block of West Fourth Street.

Emergency units were dispatched at 2:54 p.m. for a report of a carjacking that had just occurred, police said.

Units made contact with the victim who stated that, while he was sitting in his car, a short white man, believed to be in his late 20s, with stubble facial hair and wearing a light T-shirt, approached his vehicle and opened his door.

The victim stated that the suspect pointed what he believed to be a gun under his shirt and was told to get out of the car. Once the victim exited the vehicle, the suspect threatened to strike him with a fist before driving the Toyota westbound on West Fourth Street.

Officers were later able to locate the vehicle with its engine still running. It was unoccupied in the area of St. David’s and Edercrest roads in Loyalsock Township.
